Last weekend unfortunately did not get documented. So here are the highlights without pictures: Friday night we had Kaylee and Brandon over for dessert and some fun game time. Definitely will be doing that again soon! Sunday after church, we went and played laser tag with the teens from church. Loren and I had never been before and it was a blast, even if neither of us scored very high. Also, how are we old enough to be teen sponsors!?
This past weekend was quite packed. Friday night we (finally!) had a date night and went to see Avengers: Age of Ultron at our cheap theater, candy in hand. I liked it so much better than the first one!
Saturday afternoon, Loren’s sister Heather and Marcus came for a short visit and we took them around downtown Indianapolis before dinner.
Veterans Memorial Plaza
View of downtown from the Library steps
We climbed the 5 million stairs to the top of the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument for a better view of the city. Next time we are definitely just paying the $2 for the elevator ride.
Glad we made it to the top!
I really want to stay here some day!
Sunday afternoon after church and naps, Loren worked on homework and I tried my hardest to distract him. It wasn’t too hard. 😉 Later in the evening, we went over to Blake and Savannah’s with some other friends for snacks and games. I’m so thankful for all the wonderful friendships we’ve been able to establish over the past year! On our way out, we stopped to watch the eclipse for a little while before the clouds covered the moon.
Our view of the eclipse right before it got covered by the clouds. It was still pretty amazing!
Another great weekend with family, fellowship and friends.
How was your weekend? Did you watch the eclipse?
Goodbye, Summer, I love you. And I will miss you! But it’s time to welcome fall. Bright red, orange and yellow trees. Crisp blue sky. Apples. Chili. Spicy candles. Boots. Scarves. Vests. Sweaters. Coffee. Apple Cider. Campfires. All the feels. Thankfully, we have been gradually sliding into fall. Cooler mornings, warmer afternoons. Perfect transition into fall!
Apple picking a few years ago shortly after we started dating. What babies we were!
Here are some things I want to do this fall:
1. Go apple picking.
2. Make apple crisp.
3. Roast s’mores over a campfire.
4. Visit Brown County, IN.
5. Go hiking with friends.
6. Deep clean the apartment and cars.
7. Make fall decorations with leaves and pumpkins.
8. Eat caramel apples.
9. Eat breakfast on the couch cuddled under a blanket with the balcony door wide open.
10. Start Christmas gift shopping.
What are some thing you want to do this fall?
This past Friday, I took the day off to babysit my nephews while my sister and her husband went out of town. I didn’t watch them for a full 24 hours, and I didn’t even do half the things an actual mother does, but they were both so good for me and it was a lot of fun to play mommy for the day. It was rainy and cool pretty much all day, so we mostly stayed inside, although we did get out after dinner for a short walk before Loren came home from school. Loren made it home in time for baths and Cayden kept us laughing pretty much the whole time (the whole day, actually). Once we put the boys to bed, we cleaned up and watched a movie before Keith and Dawn came home. Since they got home pretty late, we spent the night.
“Can we get a blanket and snuggle?” Melted my heart!
Cleaning up after lunch.
Some bonding with Jackson before nap time.
Thankfully, he was a cleaner spaghetti eater than Jackson. 😉
Finally got outside for a little bit.
These faces pretty much sum up their personalities. 🙂
Saturday we eventually headed home after eating some amazing cinnamon rolls Dawn made. Loren jumped right into work and getting ready for Sunday School (he teaches the teen boys at our church) for the rest of the day and I hit up my least favorite place – the mall – for a bit (I hate shopping so much!!!).
Sunday morning we woke up a little earlier than usual so I brought breakfast to bed (more amazing cinnamon rolls from Dawn) before we got ready for another blessed morning at church. After lunch we took a nap (why do Sunday morning make one so tired?), and then while Loren was studying, I drove back to Dawn’s to pick up a debit card one of us left there.
Have I mentioned how good these are??!!
Beautiful afternoon for a drive!
All in all, a great weekend. 🙂
How was yours?
