Vacation Recap: Video

We are back from our perfect vacation in Charleston/Mount Pleasant, SC! Definitely my favorite place in the world. We stayed in the cutest little 3rd-floor apartment we booked through Airbnb that was 8 minutes from the beach, 10 minutes from downtown Charleston and within walking distance of several shops and restaurants in Mount Pleasant. We hit up the beach, a couple local restaurants, tried paddle boarding, visited Magnolia Plantation and so much more.
I plan on posting several pictures with a few more details over the next couple of days, but here is a little video of the week that Loren put together.

Five on Friday // 6-17-16

Another quick week! And here are the favorites:

ONE // My bestie Joy Ann came to visit this week!! From pizza, to getting our nails done, to shopping, to getting caught in horrible rain downtown to everything else we fit it – her visit was definitely the highlight but way too short. Too bad she lives so far away!!

Just before the torrential downpour
Found refuge in Starbucks

24 hours was not long enough!!!

TWO // This awesome RTIC tumbler with my initials Joy got me for my birthday. Keeps my water cold for SO long. I love it!

THREE // Waffle cones. Loren bought some for my birthday party and we had a bunch leftover, so naturally we had to use them to finish off the ice cream before we go on vacation.

FOUR // These TOMS that I found WAY cheap last week at Marshalls. They are so comfy and pretty much match everything.

FIVE // My man. He has worked so hard this week on apartment hunting & analyzing (we found one!!!), car stuff, finances, etc. and I am so grateful for him.

Have a good weekend!

Birthday Surprises

Yes, it’s Thursday. And I’m finally doing a weekend recap now. Hopefully you don’t mind! Last week went by super fast. Maybe because we had something every night? Anyway, here is a little recap of the most important happenings of the week and weekend.

Wednesday afternoon, some friends texted and asked if we wanted to go to the Colts minicamp with them that night. Of course we didn’t turn down the free tickets and went to watch the Colts practice and then watched the Lego Movie on the field with about half of Indianapolis’s children.

Friday my coworkers brought in a ton of awesome treats to celebrate my birthday. And then some of them took me out for a birthday lunch at Milktooth! It was so sweet of them and I felt very spoiled. In the evening for date night, Loren and I finally went and saw Zootopia. It was really good!

Saturday was my 25th birthday and Loren totally outdid himself. The day started off with him decorating the apartment and making breakfast while I slept in. After breakfast, we headed down to the Bloomington Farmer’s Market and wandered around checking out all the fresh produce and art stands for a bit before buying some succulents (let’s hope I can keep them alive!!) and the world’s best popcorn. We looked up the highest rated burger place in Bloomington and ended up at Bub’s Burgers & Ice Cream for lunch. Boy, were those Yelp reviews right! After lunch, we wandered in and out of some shops, then hit the road back home. Or close to home. Earlier before we left, Loren mentioned I needed to bring a book along because we were going to a park upon our return from Bloomington. I love reading at the park and didn’t really think about it – just one of the things he had planned for this day! But really it was just to kill time until we eventually headed home where I was greeted by several kazoo-blowing, surprise-yelling friends! Let me back up for a second – as we were leaving the park, Loren had me close my eyes so I wouldn’t know where we were going. I knew something was up, but having to close my eyes for 20 minutes before we got home was TORTURE. Loren had planned this surprise party perfectly. From fun & creative games to so many of my favorite foods to having someone take pictures, I loved it all! He even asked family members who couldn’t be there to send little birthday videos. I mean, how thoughtful is that!? A big THANK YOU to everyone who was a part of the surprise and making this such an amazing day!!!

I woke up to all these wonderful decorations 🙂

Of course I had to get my free Starbucks 😉

Softballing, Picnicking & Hunting

So this is what a weekend with no traveling feels like! Don’t get me wrong, I love traveling, but this weekend at home was pretty wonderful.

Friday, Loren came downtown to hang out while I was at work and we had a little picnic lunch and walk along the Indy canal during my lunch break. After I got off work, we headed to Loren’s first softball game of the season! The league he joined is part of a laid-back summer program at my sister’s church. I pretty much talked him into signing up just so I could hang out with my sister & nephews during the games. 😉 But he also had fun and they won both of their games!

IMG_3613 Saturday we slept in a lot longer than we intended (thank you, rainy weather), made pancakes and watched Curious George (yes, I just admitted that – it was Saturday morning *and* it was raining 😉 ). We spent the rest of the afternoon reading, running errands and mapping out apartments we wanted to check out on Sunday. Later on, we had Jon & Betsey and their fun little girls over for dinner.

Sunday was another full day. We had our annual church picnic at a local park and it was such a blessing being outside worshipping and fellowshipping with church family. The weather was perfect! After the picnic we headed to see one of our church teens in a performance of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” They all did a fantastic job and it was so fun to watch.
After the musical, we hopped in the car with the awesome list Loren put together and drove all over town to hunt down a new home for us. We looked at about 10 different apartment complexes and definitely found ones we don’t want to move to! But also found some good possibilities.

Five on Friday // 6-3-16

Oh hey, Friday! It looks like I’ve neglected you again over the past couple of weeks. So it’s time to pick it back up:

101 Things to Do in Charleston, South Carolina |

ONE // We finally booked our vacation and are staying in Charleston for a week!! I’m so excited!! Yes, we’ve been there several times, but not for a full week. I plan to hit all the beaches, eat lots of good food and several other things on this awesome checklist.

TWO // This adorable and wonderfully soft shirt I found at Target last night. How cute is this elephant?!

THREE // Cucumber salad. I don’t have a picture of this (recipe to come soon), but I grew up eating fresh creamy cucumber salad in Germany. Now, I like making it in the summer.

FOUR // These fringe sandals that I feel should be added to my shoe collection. And everything else from francesca’s.

natdonudaFIVE // Last, but not least, it’s National Donut Day today! So get out there and have a donut. Or three.

Have a good weekend!
