Size of baby: Coconut, corn-on-the-cob, water bottle or guinea pig. 11 inches long (head to toe) and 15.2 ounces.
Wearing/Maternity Clothes: Nothing new. I finally decided on what dress to order for our maternity shoot, and I can’t wait for it to get here!
Sleep: Still good and full of fun dreams.
Dream of the week: I was staying at my sister’s (Heather) house in some foreign country where you sleep under mosquito netting. I was awakened by an alligator pulling on my leg and the only way to get it off was to hit it with a frozen chicken. I dragged the alligator to the kitchen, found a chicken in the freezer and started hitting the alligator. The beating worked its magic, the alligator let go and meandered on out of the house. I kept the frozen chicken under my bed the rest of the night to make sure Mr. Gator wouldn’t come back. The next morning, I wasn’t sure what to do with the frozen chicken, but Heather said she needed a frozen chicken to make salsa anyway. And then I woke up.
Cravings: Cereal. I could eat it all day every day.
Baby movement: She’s been pretty quiet this week, but definitely doesn’t let me forget she’s there.
Gender: Little Lady.
Challenges this week: Dry hands. With our weather temps going back and forth so much, my hands have been so dry and I can’t keep enough lotion on them.
Best moment this week:Brunch with Loren this past weekend.
Instead of listing everything we did this weekend, I’m just going to post about one of the highlights.
We decided to push our date night from Friday night to a brunch date on Saturday. I really wanted to go on a hike since the weather had been nice all week, but then a storm came through Friday night brought the cold again. So we opted for brunch instead. I’d been wanting to introduce Loren to Milktooth ever since I went with some of my coworkers for my birthday, and it finally happened. Milktooth is just open for breakfast and lunch and was pretty hopping that morning, but we didn’t mind waiting to be seated while we sipped some of their delicious coffees.
Each of their menu entrees has some kind of unexpected, yet delicious, twist. Like the cranberry walnut & TP caerphilly cheddar grilled cheese with black truffle honey and local sunny duck egg that Loren ordered and the sourdough carrot cake waffle with shredded carrot, pineapple cream, spiced maple and walnuts that I ordered. Both were delicious!! Their fresh-pressed orange juice is also worth noting.
Overall, a fun date exploring another local eats of Indianapolis.
I am by no means a makeup expert (I tend to buy whatever works on the cheaper side), but here are my favorite/essential makeup items:
ONE // Coconut oil. Ok, this isn’t makeup, but I use it as a makeup remover/facewash at the end of the day and a moisturizer after my morning shower. I just use the organic kind you can find at the grocery store.
THREE // Cover Girl Clump Crusher Mascara. I’ve tried a few different mascaras over the past couple of months, and this one is my favorite right now. It doesn’t make my lashes stick together (hence the “clump crusher” 😉 ).
FOUR // Maybelline Eyeliner Pencil. I tried liquid liner for a while, then went back to this pencil because liquid liner was too advanced for me.
FIVE // Covergirl Blush and Bronzer. Like I said earlier, I’m not a huge makeup person and always thought I had a “healthy glow” without bronzer or blush. That is, until last year when I had a lesson in applying makeup before a wedding. Even just a little makes such a difference! Maybe I’m just getting old.
Friday night wasn’t too exciting – Loren had been feeling like he was coming down with something all week, and he did come down with a fever Friday afternoon. I sent him straight to bed and then picked up dinner (chicken noodle soup). We had dinner after he napped for a while, then went to bed pretty early because 1) Loren was sick and 2) if he was feeling any better, we were heading to Columbus, OH very early the next morning.
Early Saturday morning Loren decided he was feeling ok, so we jumped in the car and headed to Columbus, OH for a wedding Loren was helping shoot. After dropping him off, I had the rest of the day to myself. My first stop was World Market where I discovered that the elephant pillow I really wanted the last time I stopped in was on sale! So the first item for baby girl’s nursery has been acquired. 🙂 After I did some other shopping and scored some amazing President’s Day deals, I thought about catching a movie, but decided the day was way too perfect and sunny to sit inside a dark theater. Instead, I camped out at Cup O’ Joe for a few hours and read. Eventually I headed to the hotel and checked in, grabbed dinner and hung out until it was time to pick up Loren.
Sunday morning, we left Columbus and headed to Cincinnati for our nephew’s dedication service. After church, we had a fun lunch with the family catching up. Always good to see them all! Loren had a meeting back at home Sunday night, so we headed back home late afternoon after a quick stop at IKEA for some organizing necessities.
And that’s it (probably way too much boring info)!
I hope you got out and enjoyed the beautiful sunny spring-like weekend!
ONE // I have the sweetest man. We don’t do a whole lot for Valentine’s Day (no gifts, just a little fondue dinner), but Loren surprised me with some of my favorite candy (Haribo gummi bears and Hot Tamales, in case you were wondering). We had a nice quiet evening and opted not to take any pics that night, so here’s an oldie but a favorite. He gets me and I just love him.
TWO // This prenatal ab and core workout. Staying active has been super important to me this pregnancy, and this workout was the perfect addition to the cardio and light weight lifting I’ve already been doing.
THREE // Coffee is starting to taste good again! I basically only drink the equivalent of an espresso shot (quantity, not strength), and it’s the best.
FOUR // Salmon Tacos. I was inspired by my SIL to make salmon tacos last night. I’m not a huge fish person, but I don’t mind salmon and topped with cilantro coleslaw and a side of cilantro rice, it was delicious. Next time I want to try the avocado dressing from the link/picture above.
FIVE // Chambray baseball cap. I’ve been searching for the perfect chambray baseball cap for a while that wasn’t $$$ or sold out, and finally found this one at Target the other day (it looks better in person)! #targetmademedoit
This year’s Valentine’s Day post is a regular old weekend recap.
Friday night I went to a Young Living essential oils class my friend was hosting. It was very informative, and we got to make our own little samples to take home. When I got home, Loren and I had an ice cream and movie date in bed and then promptly fell asleep. #crazyweek
Saturday was gorgeous outside. After breakfast, we went to a close-by park for a walk to take advantage of the warmer temps and sun. It felt like the perfect spring day!
Later that afternoon, we headed to an annual “Cabin Fever Challenge” a couple from our church hosts. It was our first time going, and it was a fun evening of food, games and conversation.
Sunday after church, we helped out with the teen Valentine’s lunch and white elephant gift exchange and there were some pretty hilarious gifts. When we got home I was so tired I ended up taking a 2 hour nap. We eventually picked up pizza and wings for dinner and relaxed for the rest of the evening.
And I’m going to throw in a couple pics from yesterday (Monday) morning’s ultrasound and breakfast date! It was a sweet time seeing our little girl moving all around on the screen and then having breakfast together before work.
