Five on Friday // 3-31-17

Happy Friday and last day of March!

ONE // I’ve tried a couple new recipes this week, and this Chipotle Chicken Twice Baked Sweet Potatoes recipe was a winner.

TWO // This candle I found at Target on clearance. Nothing like a fresh new candle for spring!THREE // FaveReds Starburst Jellybeans. My Easter candy weakness.

FOUR // Rediscovering this Diddle Mouse stationary from my childhood. This stuff was gold and we used to trade it in elementary school. Anyone else remember this? Basically the German version of Lisa Frank.

FIVE // Loren’s sweet family is throwing us a baby shower next weekend, and we already received a gift from family who couldn’t make it. I can’t wait to celebrate baby girl. ūüôā

Have a great weekend!

26 Week Bumpdate

How far along: 26 weeks

Size of baby: Butternut squash, kale, bowling pin or slow loris. 14  inches long (head to toe) and 2 lbs.

Wearing/Maternity Clothes: Chambray shirt similar to this one, maternity leggings (waiting for these to come), hoodies Рanything comfortable.

Sleep:  Still good, even though I get pretty tired in the afternoon.

Dream of the week:¬†None. Ever since I decided to add dreams to this update, I haven’t had too many good ones. What’s up with that??

Cravings: Hummus and pita chips (I even made my own hummus!), Cool Ranch Doritos.

Baby movement:¬†So much! Especially when daddy feels and talks to her. We may have a daddy’s girl on our hands!

Gender: Little Lady.

Challenges this week:¬†Pregnancy brain is a real thing, guys! My memory wasn’t the best before, but now it’s just pretty hopeless. I often even forget what I’m trying to say before I finish a sentence.

Best moment[s] this week:¬†Having so much family here and celebrating Loren’s birthday. Also being able to see baby girl’s movement from the outside when she was SUPER active the other night.

Birthday Cake Galore

What a week this has been! I’m still trying to get caught up on life (and sleep), but this past week was totally worth it.

First off, my parents &¬†younger sister (from Germany) and older sister & her family (from Denver) spent the night last Tuesday with us on their road trip¬†from Denver to SC. They got in pretty late, but we had dinner then celebrated my dad’s upcoming birthday with ice cream cake. Wednesday, we all (minus Loren) headed to the Ark Encounter¬†in KY to¬†meet up with my brother & his family (from Germany) and explore the Ark. Wednesday night, my brother & his family stayed with us and then they headed back home Thursday morning.
All that was probably a little confusing, but it was SO wonderful to see my parents & siblings, even for just a short time. I never realize how much I miss them all until we’re together. And those nephews and nieces grow up way too fast!

We decided to make Thursday night date night, and stayed in with pizza and a movie.

Saturday, Loren’s family from Cincinnati came for the afternoon/evening to celebrate his birthday. Another wonderful day with family all crowded in our apartment – sorry for any disturbance, neighbors! ūüėČ

Sunday after church and lunch with Carrie (who spent the night), Loren went bowling with a few guy friends, then the guys came over for a little more birthday celebrating. Aka snacks, rootbeer & orange soda floats and games. (Sorry, no pics from this.)

Monday was Loren’s actual birthday and we weren’t done celebrating yet. You only turn 25 once! ūüėČ After a long day of work, we had a quiet and delicious dinner at Livery to close out the birthday celebrations. Even though we could never celebrate this amazing man enough. ūüôā

Thanks to all the family and friends who made this week/weekend so special!

Btw, if anyone wants to come save us from all the leftover ice cream birthday cakes, we won’t¬†stop you.

25 Week Bumpdate

How far along: 25 weeks

Size of baby: Cauliflower, Napa cabbage, baseball glove or prairie dog. 13.6 inches long (head to toe) and 1.5 lbs.

Wearing/Maternity Clothes: This adorable dress for our maternity shoot.

Sleep:  I finally figured out how to use the body pillow and it definitely has made a difference. Much more comfortable!

Dream of the week: So many random little ones – Sunday morning I dreamed that the 4’s & 5’s Sunday school class I was going to be teaching were all little terrors (thankfully this didn’t actually happen). That morning I also dreamed that I was defending someone and face planted their adversary into the ground – not very nice. I had all this uncharacteristic moxie.

Cravings: Nothing really this week that I can remember.

Baby movement: Lots! Especially in the morning after I eat breakfast and in the evening.

Gender: Little Lady.

Challenges this week: Remembering to drink enough water.

Best moment this week: Passing my glucose test and our photoshoot with Sarah!

Food Bump Weekend

This weekend in Cincinnati makes up for the lack of excitement and pictures of last weekend.

Friday¬†¬†afternoon we headed to Cincinnati for a maternity shoot with the super talented¬†Sarah¬†(can’t wait to see the pics!!), and after the official shoot, Loren and I headed around to find this mural¬†to take a couple more pics. We then headed to Coffee Emporium so I could finish up work for the week. After grabbing a quick dinner, we met up with Loren’s parents at his grandma’s for the rest of the evening.

Saturday morning, Heather and Marcus joined us for a delicious pancake and bacon brunch at Mom and Dad’s. Loren did a little photoshoot for Mom and Dad, then we spent the rest of the afternoon just chatting.

Later on, we met up with Caleb and Chelsea for our monthly get-together. We changed it up this time and met up downtown Cincinnati for some window shopping, doughnuts from Holtmans, a most amazing dinner at The Eagle, and coffee at Coffee Emporium. Always a good time together! After all the good food and conversation, Loren and I headed back home to Indy.

Sunday after church, we laid pretty low for most of the day, but did venture out to take dinner to some friends who had just moved.

A great weekend filled with lots of great conversation!

Happy first day of spring!

Five on Friday [nursery inspiration] // 3-17-17

Even though we aren’t quite ready yet to switch the office/guest room to a nursery, I’ve been collecting ideas so I’m ready when we do start. I want to keep it pretty simple, so here are a few of those ideas¬†(all pictures courtesy of Pinterest):

ONE // A dresser for clothes and changing station. Baby girl won’t have a closet, so I’m also going to have to figure out how to hang up her little dresses creatively.

TWO // This small IKEA cart for all things diaper. Easy access and won’t take up dresser space!

THREE // Collage over the changing station/dresser. Probably a little simpler than this, but I love this idea.

FOUR // Banner with name over crib. This picture might be a tad too frilly for me, but I do like the overall neutrals and pops of color.

FIVE // Elephants. I’ve always loved grey with pops of yellow, and elephants fit perfectly in to that theme. ūüôā

What ideas would you suggest?

Thursday Confessions

I confess
¬†…that this should actually be a recipe post but I failed in the meal planning and¬†grocery shopping department this week and didn’t have what I needed.

…that I’m excited to see¬†my family from Germany¬†next week! There will be 7 adults and 2 kids staying in our 2-bedroom apartment for a night and I can’t wait.

…that I’ve slacked off working out the past 2 weeks. But that changed this morning.

…that I’m super excited about our maternity shoot tomorrow, even though it’s probably too early for one. Baby bump, grow some overnight, please!
…that renewing/applying for passports is slightly daunting.
–¬†
…that I have a new-found love for coconut milk. It makes our morning smoothies so much better!
–¬†–
…that I wish we had a beach vacation planned, but gotta save for our Christmas Europe trip! #priorities
–¬†
Happy Thursday!

24 Week Bumpdate

How far along: 24 weeks

Size of baby: Cantaloupe, eggplant, GI Joe or Atlantic puffin. 11.8 inches long (head to toe) and 1.3 lbs.

Wearing/Maternity Clothes: Layering shirts from Target (here, here and here) with sweaters. Also this super comfy hoodie.

Sleep:¬† Pretty good – I’ve tried using the body pillow a few times, but haven’t quite figured out what the most comfortable position is yet.

Dream of the week: Sadly, none to report here. I know I’ve had dreams, but none have been remarkable.

Cravings: Pancakes and cereal. And last night it was sweet tea.

Baby movement: Lots! Especially in the morning after I eat breakfast and in the evening.

Gender: Little Lady.

Challenges this week: There were a couple days that I had a weird headache, but other than that everything’s been fine!

Best moment this week: Getting these baby moccasins in the mail for our maternity shoot this Friday!

New Addition to the Family

This weekend was pretty low-key (keeping it quiet before the next several super busy weekends), but the main highlight is that we added something very special to the family: Loren upgraded his camera! He found a good deal on his top camera choice (Canon 5D Mark III for those who want to know), so Sunday afternoon we made the 1 1/2 hour drive to pick it up. Needless to say, he’s pretty happy with his new toy and I can’t wait to see¬†how his photography skills will continue to advance.

In other (minor) news, baby girl’s first moccasins arrived in the mail, and we are all ready for our maternity shoot this next weekend! Are these just not the cutest?!

I hope you had a good weekend and that the snow stayed away. Ours arrived this morning.

Five on Friday [spring style edition] // 3-10-17

Spring keeps tempting us here¬†in Indiana (60s last weekend, 30s this weekend), but I’ve been enjoying every warmer moment and ray of sunshine. So with spring coming, here’s a roundup of some of my favorite spring styles:

ONE // A lightweight vest. I love my olive military vest and wear it all the time. It can be dressed up and down. Here and cheaper version here.

TWO // I’ve seen a lot of blush around for this spring, and I’m loving this cardigan and these shoes. (BTW, Kilee¬†has amazing style, and you should follow her if you don’t!)

THREE // Maxi skirt & chambray shirt. I’m not a huge maxi skirt fan, but I do love this look. Plus, maxi skirts are pretty comfortable.

FOUR // “Pinky swear” nail polish. I recently stumbled upon wet¬†n wild’s 1 Step Wondergel polish. So much cheaper than all the other gel polishes out there and works just as well. Plus, it comes off super easily!

FIVE // Toms. While I still like to wear my booties in the spring, I mostly live in my Toms because they are easy to slip on, cute with anything and super comfortable.

What are your favorite spring fashion items?
