Five on Friday // 9-22-17

Since I failed to do a weekend recap this week, today’s favorites are a few pictures from this past weekend in Cincinnati with Loren’s family.

ONE // This baby isn’t loved at all.

TWO // Adorable and hilarious nephews and nieces.

THREE // Niece silhouette photoshoots. Loren was playing with the girls outside after dinner, which then somehow turned into a little photoshoot. Then Rachel, who was completely fascinated by this, wanted to take a couple pictures of Loren & me. She was so cute, telling us exactly where to stand and how to pose. Guess she’s a natural!

FOUR // Saturday morning swaddle freedom. The best part of every day – releasing this happy girl from her swaddle so she can stretch like crazy.

FIVE // Saturday mornings on the patio with grandparents.

SIX // Saturday brunch with doting family.

Ok, so I know that’s six things, not five, but they were too good not to share.

Happy weekending!

Saturday in Nature

This past weekend, we wanted to get outside for a hike, but all the good hiking locations around here are a little bit of a drive and we didn’t have a whole day to devote to it. But then we remembered that the Indianapolis Museum of Art has a nature park and we had heard that it was pretty awesome. So, Saturday afternoon, we headed to IMA’s 100 acre park that is made up of woodlands, wetlands, meadows and a 35-acre lake that also features several pieces of modern art. It was a beautiful and perfect afternoon and we will definitely be going back someday soon.

Can you spot the baby toes?

Emberly Brynn | Two Months

Weight: 11 pounds 7 ounces (48th percentile)
Birth: 7 lbs 5 oz
Height: 23 in (70th percentile)
Birth: 20 in
Head: 14.75in (22nd percentile)
Birth: 12.5 in
EAT
Emberly still eats about every 2 hours, and still likes to keep it pretty quick. She still takes a bottle pretty well and did fantastically when her aunt babysat her for a day.
SLEEP
Around week 7, we decided to move Emberly from our room to her own room. She sleeps pretty well in there, but we’re working on fewer nighttime awakenings. 😉 BUT at the beginning of week 8, she caught a cold so we put her back in our room for a few nights until she got over it. The sweetest moment of the day is when I go to get her in the mornings – she is usually wide awake and quietly just looking around in the dark, but when I open the curtains and and tell her “good morning”, she gets the biggest, sweetest smile on her face and starts trying to wriggle out of her swaddle. During the day she takes 1-3 hour naps in her swing or rock’n play.
PLAY
Emberly isn’t a huge fan of tummy time, so I tend to put it off, but we’re working on doing it more often. She loves to “talk” back to us with the most adorable coos and has started responsively smiling.
Emberly,
You had a little bit of a crazy week 6 when you decided to randomly cry for no reason. We were usually able to calm you down after a while, but thankfully you have outgrown this now. You have started smiling at us, and it’s seriously the best thing. You love bathtime with daddy and taking walks with mommy.
FIRSTS
You had your first passport picture taken and your hair looks hilarious. Thankfully, it doesn’t completely look like that in real life.
You went on your first (and second) photoshoot with mommy & daddy and were a trooper.
You had your first major blowout all over dad and were quite pleased with yourself afterwards.
You had an (almost) full day away from mom while she was in a wedding. Aunt Carrie watched you and you both had the best time (except during tummy time).
You suffered through you first cold like a champ and were still mostly a happy baby.
You went on your first coffee date with mommy & daddy.

Happy 2 months, sweet girl!

Weekend in the South

A few weeks ago, we decided to make our way down South Carolina for Labor Day weekend so Emberly could meet more of relatives (finally some on my side!).

So, this past Friday, Emberly and I packed up and picked up Loren after work around 3pm, then we headed out of town with the rest of the Midwest. Or so it seemed between the rain and crazy traffic. Emberly did great at first, got fussy during the heavy rain and traffic, then eventually fell asleep for pretty much the rest of the trip. We pulled in to my aunt’s around 2:30am, exhausted, but so glad to be there.

One of her happier moments on the drive.

We spent the weekend visiting and catching up with so many relatives and a few friends, and since we took so many pictures, I’ll just let them do the talking.

Meeting Opa (my dad)! Just sad that Oma wasn’t there.
Skyping with Oma (my mom).
GG (my grandma) – E eventually decided to take a nap with her. 🙂
