Currently: Fall Edition

It’s been a good long while since I’ve done a currently post, so here we go:

Feeling… thankful for a mild transition into fall. I don’t especially like winter, and these beautiful sunny days with all the leaves changing have been perfect.

Readingnothing. I picked up a couple of library books after Emberly was born in hopes of reading them, but I never got around to it. Hoping to read more this fall & winter!

Watching… Parenthood (late to the game, I know). It’s so much more emotional now that I have a child!

Buying… fall/winter baby clothes and this sleep sack (swaddle weaning hasn’t been super fun). Dressing a baby in summer was so much easier!

Listening to… the washing machine going and the baby’s sound machine (seriously the best thing ever) through the baby monitor.

Thinking about… how to make a little office corner in our bedroom since Emberly’s room is my former office.

Working on… planning the rest of our Europe trip. Any suggestions on where to go in northern France and Switzerland?

Tasting… coffee with this amazing creamer.

Excited… for our family photoshoot tomorrow. Our first official shoot as a family and I can’t wait! Btw, coordinating outfits just got harder.

Hoping… we can take a hike at Turkey Run before the weather gets cold and all the leaves fall.

What have you been up to lately.

10 Random Facts About Me #3

I’ve noticed a few new faces around here, and since I always love learning random facts about other people, I figured I would share a few of about me today (#1 and #2).

  1. I love the comforting sound of the dishwasher going in the evening – it means the kitchen is clean & closed for the day.
  2. I always forget to clean off the dryer lint, despite my mom trying for YEARS to train me otherwise.
  3. I currently have at least 5 grey shirts in my closet and they all serve a different purpose.
  4. I rarely exactly follow a recipe when cooking and often substitute items when baking.
  5. My first car was a manual VW Beetle. I had never driven manual before and had to learn very quickly.
  6. Loren’s sister was my roommate my senior/her freshman year in college, and whenever we would all hang out together people used to think she was his girlfriend and I was his sister.
  7. I played the violin in high school, but haven’t really touched it since then.
  8. I love having pictures, but hate being in front of the camera (as the above photo can testify).
  9. I obsessively close all my apps on my phone when I’m done using them. Except iMessage and my baby schedule app.
  10. I can’t keep plants alive. I got 3 succulents for my birthday last year, and the last live one is barely hanging on.

What are some random facts about you?

April Goals

Spring is finally here in all its storminess! I don’t mind all the rain as long as it stays above 50 and the sun shines once in a while. 😉

Thursday Confessions

I confess
…that this should actually be a recipe post but I failed in the meal planning and grocery shopping department this week and didn’t have what I needed.
…that I’m excited to see my family from Germany next week! There will be 7 adults and 2 kids staying in our 2-bedroom apartment for a night and I can’t wait.
…that I’ve slacked off working out the past 2 weeks. But that changed this morning.
…that I’m super excited about our maternity shoot tomorrow, even though it’s probably too early for one. Baby bump, grow some overnight, please!
…that renewing/applying for passports is slightly daunting.
…that I have a new-found love for coconut milk. It makes our morning smoothies so much better!
– –
…that I wish we had a beach vacation planned, but gotta save for our Christmas Europe trip! #priorities
Happy Thursday!

January Goals

Normally on Friday, I would post my Friday Favorites, but since it’s still the beginning of January, I’m going to share my January goals instead. While I’m not big on New Year’s resolutions, I do like to set monthly goals for myself.
So here goes:

January Goals
~ write lots of thank you notes
~ read 3 books
~ host a holiday party
~ blog 3-4 times a week
~ post a home tour
~ make a wreath for the front door
~ organize the pantry

Cheers to 2017!

Breaking the Silence

Hey Guys! You may or may not have noticed my absence from the blog the past several of weeks, but I’m back now. Here is a little life update that should explain the absence:

We finally completed several home projects like our coffee table, mug racks and coffee station.

The Sunday before Thanksgiving, I flew down to SC to help get ready for my cousin Dennae’s wedding. She was the world’s most chill bride and we had fun running errands, hanging out and celebrating #eatdrinkandbemarinelli. But before the wedding, Loren finally made it to town early Thanksgiving morning, and we had a wonderful day with family eating lots of delicious food, catching up and playing some fun games. So thankful for all the quality time we were able to spend together!
Saturday after the wedding, we headed down to Columbia for a quick visit with Loren’s sister and her husband.

Next up, I started a new job! I’m still with the same firm, just switched to a different department and working remotely from home. This has been a long journey to get here, but I am super excited about this new opportunity, especially with winter coming up and not wanting to go out in the cold and snow. 😉 In preparation for this job, I spent a week in Michigan training, and am SO glad to be back home after being gone for 2 straight weeks.
Once I was home for good, we got our tree and decorated for Christmas. I love sitting in the glow of lights in the early morning and evening. Nothing like it!

I have one more update, but I’m saving that for a post all of its own. 🙂
It’s good to be back!

If We Had a Coffee Date (Vol. 1)

photo 1 (1)Let’s have a coffee date! If we were to meet up for coffee, here is what I would tell you:

I’d tell you how proud I am of Loren finishing his first trimester of SLP fellowship (how has this already flown by!?). He’s loving it and I can’t wait to keep watching him excel.

I’d tell you the new Gilmore Girls trailer had me asking so many questions (Emily in jeans AND a tshirt??!!) and getting even more excited for November 25th (even though I probably won’t be watching it until several days later). Get the coffee, poptarts and pizza ready, people!

I’d tell you I’m loving my new coffee bar and I’m having fun setting it up and rearranging the kitchen.

I’d tell you how excited I am to be shadowing a wedding coordinator this weekend.

I’d tell you how hard it is to have patience sometimes when you’re waiting to hear back from people about potential job changes.

I’d tell you that Loren and I have been SO good with our workouts every morning until this week when we got sickish and it felt good to finally be back in the gym today.

Now what would you tell me?

Falling for Fall

Between moving our home, moving at work (thankfully just up 2 floors), home projects, bachelorette parties and weddings, blogging has taken a back seat. But I plan on pulling it back to the front and hopefully this will be the last post to get caught up on life lately. Now, please sit back and enjoy this little update with a variety of pictures.

We had our first cozy rainy weekend and sat out on the balcony for brunch.

I threw a bachelorette party for Heather which was so much fun! We ate lots of food, watched a couple chick-flicks and got pedicures by Anna.img_4466 img_4470

And that’s how we’ve been fading out summer. I’m going to miss summer, but excited to see what this fall has in store.
How have you spent your last weeks of summer?
