EAT
Emberly still eats about every 2 hours, and still likes to keep it pretty quick. She still takes a bottle pretty well and did fantastically when her aunt babysat her for a day.
SLEEP
Around week 7, we decided to move Emberly from our room to her own room. She sleeps pretty well in there, but we’re working on fewer nighttime awakenings. 😉 BUT at the beginning of week 8, she caught a cold so we put her back in our room for a few nights until she got over it. The sweetest moment of the day is when I go to get her in the mornings – she is usually wide awake and quietly just looking around in the dark, but when I open the curtains and and tell her “good morning”, she gets the biggest, sweetest smile on her face and starts trying to wriggle out of her swaddle. During the day she takes 1-3 hour naps in her swing or rock’n play.
PLAY
Emberly isn’t a huge fan of tummy time, so I tend to put it off, but we’re working on doing it more often. She loves to “talk” back to us with the most adorable coos and has started responsively smiling.
Emberly,
You had a little bit of a crazy week 6 when you decided to randomly cry for no reason. We were usually able to calm you down after a while, but thankfully you have outgrown this now. You have started smiling at us, and it’s seriously the best thing. You love bathtime with daddy and taking walks with mommy.
FIRSTS
You had your first passport picture taken and your hair looks hilarious. Thankfully, it doesn’t completely look like that in real life.
You went on your first (and second) photoshoot with mommy & daddy and were a trooper.
You had your first major blowout all over dad and were quite pleased with yourself afterwards.
You had an (almost) full day away from mom while she was in a wedding. Aunt Carrie watched you and you both had the best time (except during tummy time).
You suffered through you first cold like a champ and were still mostly a happy baby.
You went on your first coffee date with mommy & daddy.

EAT
Emberly loves to eat but doesn’t take her time with it. We were blessed with a perfect latch from the beginning and after about the first week, she became quite the efficient and fast eater. She eats every 2-3 hours during the day and struggled to stay awake for a full feeding at the beginning. Since she hadn’t quite gained back her birth weight by her first pediatrician visit, the dr. put her on Vitamin D, and since then she’s been filling out quite nicely. I mean, just check out those arm and leg rolls! Around week 4 we introduced the bottle, which she took like a champ, and has no trouble going back and forth from bottle to mom.

SLEEP

Girl loves to sleep and will pretty much sleep through anything – trumpet concerts (thanks to the neighbor), Sunday morning worship, at the mall, in the car, etc. She takes several 2ish hour naps throughout the day and sleeps 2-4 hours straight at night.

Emberly,

You really are the sweetest baby. You pretty much only fuss when you’re hungry or have a dirty diaper. I love your little grin (even if it just means you’re passing gas or pooping) and whenever you open your sweet little eyes.

You had so many FIRSTS this month!
Your first Sunday at church you slept like a baby through the whole worship service and sermon.
Your first visit to the pediatrician you didn’t like being undressed, but you didn’t mind the Dr.’s poking and prodding.
You met SO many friends and family and charmed them all.
You loved your first bath and continue to enjoy it every night (as long as you’re fed).
You joined your dad & me on a date night on the Canal.
You and I had our first girls’ trip to Target & Starbucks and have had a few more since then.
You visited daddy at work and he enjoyed showing you off to all his coworkers.
You stayed with your first babysitters – grandma & grandpa Crisp – for a couple of hours and were pretty good for most of the time.

You went on your first road trip to visit your grandparents and great-grandmothers and were loved on by so many people.
