Weekend Catchup

I totally failed in posting anything last week, so let’s catch up a little. We spent most of last weekend celebrating Vashti and Andrew. We had the rehearsal & dinner on Friday night, then the wedding on Saturday. I was a bridesmaid and Loren was the photographer, so Emberly got to spend the day with her Aunt Carrie and had the best time. This wedding was seriously one of the sweetest I’ve been to/in. Many happy tears were shed and we are SO happy for Vashti & Andrew!! I didn’t take any pics that day (left that to Loren ūüėČ ), so I just stole a couple of his.

Aren’t they just the cutest!?

Last Monday we celebrated 5 years of dating. I can’t believe it’s been that long! We had dinner at Cheddar’s to celebrate, since that’s where it all became official. And this time around, we didn’t mind our little third-wheeler one bit. ūüėČ

This past weekend, we got out for a little evening walk at a nearby park on Friday. It’s been cooler in the mornings and evenings, but Miss E was quite content in her little cocoon.

Saturday, Loren headed out early for Dayton to shoot another wedding, and Emberly and I had a girls’ day. She had gotten a cold a couple days earlier, but was still her usual happy self. ūüôā We did a little consignment shopping (yay for Once Upon a Child!) and had story and nap time on the patio.

Sunday afternoon, we hit up a downtown coffee shop to get some work done.

How has your week been?

Weekend with Sisters and Babies

We keep wondering if this is the last weekend before baby…maybe this one was it!

Friday afternoon, I got to have lunch with my sister and adorable new niece who were in town for a wedding. It was SO good to catch up and meet little Pepper!

Saturday, Loren and I actually attended the wedding Dawn and her family were here for and I snagged a picture because we forgot to on Friday (am I even a blogger!?). Look at those adorable squishy little baby cheeks!! Naturally, I didn’t get any pictures of my nephew who was the ringbearer, but he was adorable in his secret service get-up.

My favorite wedding date ūüôā

Later on Saturday evening, Loren got to experience a little bit of baby stuff shopping at Target. Don’t worry – I didn’t take too long and he got some new shirts (not from the baby section), so we can call it a win.

Sunday after church we had lunch with some friends, then worked on various things the rest of the afternoon. We did get out a little bit in the evening for a sunset walk.

Sometime I struggle for pictures. ūüėČ
Still struggling. Come on, baby!

Breaking the Silence

Hey Guys! You may or may not have noticed my absence from the blog the past several of weeks, but I’m back now. Here is a little life update that should explain the absence:

We finally completed several home projects like our coffee table, mug racks and coffee station.

The Sunday before Thanksgiving, I flew down to SC to help get ready for my cousin Dennae’s wedding. She was the world’s most chill bride and we had fun running errands, hanging out and celebrating #eatdrinkandbemarinelli. But before the wedding, Loren finally made it to town early Thanksgiving morning, and we had a wonderful day with family eating lots of delicious food, catching up and playing some fun games. So thankful for all the quality time we were able to spend together!
Saturday after the wedding, we headed down to Columbia for a quick visit with Loren’s sister and her husband.

Next up, I started¬†a new job! I’m still with the same firm, just switched to a different department and working remotely from home. This has been a long journey to get here, but I am super excited about this new opportunity, especially with winter coming up and not wanting to go out in the cold and snow. ūüėČ In preparation for this job, I spent a week in Michigan training, and am SO glad to be back home after being gone for 2 straight weeks.
Once I was home for good, we got our tree and decorated for Christmas. I love sitting in the glow of lights in the early morning and evening. Nothing like it!

I have one more update, but I’m saving that for a post all of its own. ūüôā
It’s good to be back!

Falling for Fall

Between moving our home, moving at work (thankfully just up 2 floors), home projects, bachelorette parties and weddings, blogging has taken a back seat. But I plan on pulling it back to the front and hopefully this will be the last post to get caught up on life lately. Now, please sit back and enjoy this little update with a variety of pictures.

We had our first cozy rainy weekend and sat out on the balcony for brunch.

We spent several late nights hanging up curtains and wall decor and bought and put together a TV stand (not pictured).img_4440

I threw a bachelorette party for Heather which was so much fun! We ate lots of food, watched a couple chick-flicks and got pedicures by Anna.img_4466 img_4470

And that’s how we’ve been fading out summer. I’m going to miss summer, but excited to see what this fall has in store.
How have you spent your last weeks of summer?

Surprise Dates & Showers

I love summer so much. This weekend was made up of so many more reasons why!

Friday {date night}¬†on my way home from work, I called Loren and told him to be ready to go out when I got home, but didn’t tell him why. I had planned a little Chipotle picnic at a nearby park (one we hadn’t been to yet) and wanted to surprise him. I just told him where to drive as he kept asking a million questions about what we were doing. Even though he wasn’t super surprised and guessed what was¬†up, it was still fun. ūüôā If you follow me on Snapchat, you got to see how it all went down (username: sisterfour).

I’ve got mad proofreading skills. Thank you autocorrect. ūüėČ

Saturday we slept in a little, made pancakes, then I got some food ready for Sunday’s¬†bridal shower. My SIL Heather is getting married in September, and¬†we bridesmaids were throwing her a shower on Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati, so that afternoon we loaded up the car and headed over for the rest of the weekend. After helping Carrie set up a little, we headed to Loren’s parent’s house for a cookout with some of¬†the siblings. It was a fun summer evening catching up on each other’s lives.

Sunday we all went to the early service at church so we would have plenty of time to set up for the early afternoon shower. Since Heather has traveled to so many places, Carrie had the brilliant idea of making the shower travel themed. All the food was from the different¬†countries Heather¬†had visited, and Carrie made a couple cute banners that also went along with the theme. Since I was in charge of the menu¬†(but we all helped make it), naturally I took lots of pictures of the food. ūüėČ We played a few games, ate lots of food and Heather shared the sweet story of her and Marcus’ relationship before opening gifts. It was such a sweet time and we were so happy to be able to spoil Heather a little bit!

2 Weddings in 1 Weekend

We’re back from our crazy whirlwind wedding weekend and I can finally share everything with you! Please enjoy the myriad of pictures to make up for the ones I failed to take last week.

Wedding #1: Jeffrey & Joanna in Cincinnati, OH
We headed to Cincinnati Thursday after work, since Loren and I were both in the wedding and wanted to get down there a little earlier to help out. But then Friday had other plans for us. Loren woke up horribly¬†sick with a high fever, chills, etc. I gave him some medicine & fluids and he went back to sleep while¬†I went over to help out with the flower decorations. Around noon, he texted me that he had thrown up, so I headed back to check on him. He was even worse than that morning. Needless to say, we didn’t end up going anywhere the rest of the day. ¬†He really¬†really didn’t want to miss any of his sister’s wedding celebrations, and we even started driving to the church for the rehearsal, but we had to turn back around. Thankfully on Saturday, he was feeling much better and able to make it to pictures & the wedding.
Back to wedding stuff. Saturday morning, we had a fun bridesmaids brunch at Half Day Cafe before hair and makeup. We got all prettied up and before we knew it, it was time for pictures! The evening ceremony and reception were so sweet & beautiful and we are so excited and happy for Jeffrey & Joanna as they start on this new adventure of life! Congrats, guys!

Fun brunch with the lovely bridesmaids.

Ready to get hair & makeup done!

Wedding #2: Caleb & Annalise in Athens, GA
Sunday morning, we got up super early to head down to GA for my cousin’s wedding and made it just in time for their beautiful Southern outdoor ceremony. Caleb & Annalise¬†are high school sweethearts and have¬†been together for about 6 years and it was so sweet to see them tie the knot. After the ceremony, we had a delicious dinner and caught up with all the¬†other relatives we¬†don’t see enough. (And I finally got some good sweet tea. They just don’t know how to do it up here.) We are super excited for Caleb & Annalise to join the married club. Congrats, guys!

Two hours in we finally stopped for breakfast & coffee.
The adorable, very happy couple.                                                         PC: Aunt Bonnie, mother of the groom

Dennae’s wedding is also coming up pretty soon!!

After the wedding festivities, we headed to our “hotel” for the night (we used Airbnb for the first time and loved it!) and crashed.
Monday morning, we had brunch in Athens at¬†Mama’s Boy, recommended by Aunt Bonnie, and I can see why it’s a winner. The coffee was great and the food tasty. We took our time driving back home and stopped at this little overlook we’ve stopped at several times over the past couple years while traveling this route (took this¬†favorite there). For some reason we can never remember the name of the overlook. But it’s Rarity Mountain and we better never forget it now.
